Raja and Hatha Yoga Intensive
Ananda’s most popular and comprehensive course!
Learn meditation, yoga, the universal philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali’s Eight-Fold Path (Ashtanga Yoga). This course features the modern, definitive text written by Swami Kriyananda, The Art and Science of Raja Yoga. There are no pre-requisites for this course.

Raja Yoga segment (7:30 – 9 pm) includes: meditation practices using breath, mantra, pranayama, affirmation, chanting, visualization, and chakra exercises; philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali’s 8-Fold Path of Ashtanga Yoga; and the philosophy of Karma, Kundalini, the Guru, astral and causal planes, reincarnation, and much more. The Raja segment is taught by Nayaswami Hriman McGilloway.


Hatha Yoga segment (6 – 7:15 pm) includes: yoga postures (asanas), pranayama, affirmations, healing, diet, and yoga routines. The Hatha Yoga segment is taught by Michelle Marshall in Seattle & Murali Venkatrao in Bothell.
NEW: Students will have access to archival re-mastered recordings by Swami Kriyananda on the topics of the Raja textbook.

OPTIONAL SATURDAY WORKSHOPS:
May 18, 1: 30 to 4:30 p.m. for students enrolled in the hatha segment of the course (held at Ananda Meditation Temple, Bothell)
June 15: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (followed by Community tour and lunch) for raja segment students (held at Ananda Community, Lynnwood)

Single Segments
Although the Raja and Hatha Yoga Intensive series is designed to be taken as a unit with both the Raja and Hatha segments enhancing and complementing the other, occasionally a student may prefer to take the Raja or the Hatha segment alone. Metaphysical Meditations – A Guide to Higher Consciousness
For graduates of the Raja Yoga Intensive, this follow-up course will provide more time for discussing and practicing meditation and exploring deeper aspects of Vedanta teachings. We will explore different approaches to meditation such as creative visualization, chanting at the chakras, and watching the breath. Our discussion topics will include:
- Levels of consciousness: sub-consciousness, conscious and superconscious
- Levels of reality: causal (thought), astral (feeling), and physical.
- Specific gravity of consciousness: reactive, ego-affirming, expansive, and metaphysical
- Psychic protection and how to give and receive higher consciousness
