There are 2 sessions of Kriya Prep each year. In 2026, the first group starts January 8 and will take initiation in July. The second group starts May 14th and will take initiation in November. Students should expect to meet almost every Thursday from 7-9pm until initiation.
Prerequisite:
The Art and Science of Raja Yoga (3-month course) — All Kriya Preparation students must complete this course first. It is offered twice a year, starting in September and February. Learn the Hong-Sau meditation technique, yogic lifestyle and core philosophy. Offered at the Blue Lotus Temple in Bothell and online.

Kriya Preparation Schedule (2026)
🔹 For students starting in January and initiating in July
1. Introduction to Kriya Preparation: (Jan 8) Available to anyone who has completed the Art and Science of Raja Yoga, this free class meets for a single session. It is meant to introduce students to the concept and lineage of Kriya Yoga and what to expect from Kriya Preparation.
2. Raja Yoga as a Spiritual Path: (Jan 15 – Feb 5) Students will get an overview of Ananda, its history, and its lineage. We will review some techniques learned in The Art and Science of Raja Yoga, and learn some additional techniques, including the Energization Exercises.
3. Exploring Discipleship: (Feb 12 – Mar 5) Explore what it means to be a disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda and take discipleship vows before proceeding to the next steps.
4. Kriya Yoga Preparation #1: (Mar 12 – April 2) Integrating Raja Yoga into daily life, students will learn additional preparatory techniques.
5. Kriya Yoga Preparation #2: (April 9 – July 16) Students will deepen their practice of the techniques they’ve been taught while studying the lives of Yogananda’s disciples.
