Dear Friend,

We would like to offer you an opportunity to consider Ananda Washington in your Legacy planning. What does legacy planning mean? It means including Ananda Washington as a beneficiary in your Will or Legacy instrument.
 
Some of you have already done so, and we are most grateful for your forethought. If you have already done so, and not yet notified us, we would be grateful for a copy of that part of your document that leaves funds or other items to Ananda Washington.
 
If you have not already done so, then we invite you to consider doing so at your earliest convenience. We all tend to put such planning off, but it’s most helpful to prepare your Will sooner than later. Even if you are young, when we have a surgery, or travel abroad, it’s important to have our papers in order!
 
We have come a long way at Ananda Washington: from the early days of a low-rent cinder-block meditation and yoga center to the modest but stunning Blue Lotus Temple and Yoga Hall here in Bothell. In the mid- 90’s we had one little PC computer with our small mailing list on it. We wrote and printed the 200 monthly newsletters and mailed them out each month by hand. Hriman and others drove around Seattle each month with flyers and our simple magazine. We had inexpensive paid print ads in what was then Krysta’s New Times magazine! My how things have changed! We now have a thriving Sangha of over 300 souls, a mailing list of 7,000, over 200 active kriyabans and a large, happy group of yogis and yoginis filling the yoga hall!
 
So many heroic souls have nurtured Master’s work through Ananda here in Washington in dedicated service, sadhana, devotion, and generosity. Countless souls have been inspired and helped through classes, meditations, kirtans, Sunday Services, personal guidance and through your soul-smiles and kindnesses.  And beyond your monthly tithes and building fund pledges, occasionally that large unexpected gift would appear, just in time for the next capital project!

We invite you now to help establish the work into the future with your legacy gift. With your gift, the existing mortgage of $1 million can be whittled down gift by gift so the work can continue on a solid foundation and so that new generations of devotees can serve with confidence, inspiration and attunement.

There are attorneys who specialize in this, but you can also find standard documents online or in your office supply store of choice, which you can prepare on your own. **Real property can gift by will, trust, by joint tenancy with rights of survivorship or by giving a remainder interest in the property after retaining a life estate (use for your lifetime).
