Courage, Calmness, & Confidence through Yoga

November 8, 2025 @ 10:00 am 3:00 pm PST

What is relaxation? What is effort? We all have dealt extensively with these seeming opposites, but what is relaxation in the midst of effort? Is it a thing of the mind, or of the body? In our daily activities, as we move about, we are drawn this way and that way by the mind and by the body, driven by various habits and tendencies. Some of them we feel are good, and some we would like to change.

Through the practice of Ananda yoga, we learn to align ourselves with a higher guidance and power, to harmonize relaxation and effort, and to come to a place within ourselves that is soul-satisfying, and where we can recall the scattered forces of mind and body to a deeper center. From this center, we are more able to stand firmly on our two feet, to operate with greater courage, calmness, and confidence, even to stand unshaken amidst the crash of breaking worlds!

During this retreat, we will set some intentions, consider some teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda and Swami Kriyananda, then dive deep into the asanas through a focused practice, and meditate together. This will help us to become much more deeply attuned, and to find clarity. We’ll also gather for interactive discussion, so each can share some of their own journey with yoga as well as new discoveries.

Perhaps most importantly, we leave room for the inspirations of the moment to come through, so we can see what is wanting to happen when we come together.
