Satsang with Murali: Mantras
In the Autobiography of a Yogi, Paramhansa Yogananda says that mantras are chanted seed sounds discharged by the mental gun of concentration…when vocalized as syllables, a mantra constitutes a universal terminology. Is it any surprise then, that the core of the Vedas – perhaps the oldest known scripture – is composed entirely of mantras? Used properly, mantras can be a powerful way to lift our minds into higher states of awareness.
In this Satsang, we will explore this mysterious and misunderstood topic, and answer questions like:
- What are mantras and what makes them powerful?
- What are some important Mantras?
- Are some mantras better than others?
- Do I need mantras on the path of Kriya Yoga?
- What is the Fire Ceremony, and what is the meaning of the mantras that are used as part of it?
- Where does AUM fit into all these?
- Are mantras only in Sanskrit?
- And more…
The Satsang will begin with a meditation that will include chanting of some simple mantras.
