Maha Shivaratri Celebration

February 25, 2025 @ 6:00 pm 9:00 pm PST

Join us for a sacred celebration on the auspicious night of Maha Shivaratri. Our practices will begin at 6:00 PM on Tuesday evening and continue until 9:00 PM.

Why is this night special?

On the sacred night of Maha Shivaratri, our spiritual practices are especially powerful due to the rare planetary alignments. The weakened influence of the moon allows the mind to quieten, creating a unique opportunity to deepen meditation, prayer, and inner transformation. By offering all negativity and limitations to Lord Shiva—the divine purifier—we open ourselves to the flow of Divine Grace.

This celebration will be enriched with chants, stories, meditation, and other spiritual practices. According to tradition, those who remain awake and fully engaged in spiritual discipline throughout the night earn the right to ask Shiva for a special boon or blessing. For this reason, Maha Shivaratri is traditionally celebrated for 12 hours, until dawn.

Who is Shiva?

Shiva is one of the most revered deities in Hinduism and is part of the Holy Trinity that sustains creation: Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Preserver, and Shiva the Destroyer. Known for his immense power of transformation, Shiva is also the embodiment of the All, as he pervades the entire cosmos with his boundless energy.

He is the god of the marginalized and the outcast, the lord of serpents and wild creatures, the protector of the poor, the misunderstood, and the excluded. He embraces all beings without exception. He is the supreme yogi.

Shiva helps us release and purify the aspects of ourselves that no longer serve us—old habits, past pains, and illusions. With his power, he lifts the veil of illusion, allowing us to see the truth with clarity and intuition, guiding us toward our highest path.
