inner peace, self-acceptance, unselfish love, vitality, creativity and a calm joy that transcends life’s ups and downs.

The benefits of meditation, which are many, have been amply documented by medical testing. Just try searching the internet on the “benefits of meditation” and you’ll be amazed! 


Meditation will benefit all aspects of your life: your health, your mental clarity, your sense of well-being, and much more! You do not need any
particular belief system or affiliation to benefit from the techniques taught at Ananda.

From stress-reduction to Self-realization, the techniques taught in this course can improve the quality of your life.

We will share and practice with you a version of the universal and popular technique of watching the breath. This approach to meditative experience is used throughout the world and has been taught down through the ages for the simple reason that, with proper instruction and practice, IT WORKS!

Our instructors are dedicated meditators with years of practice and all of whom are graduates from the Ananda Meditation Teacher Training program. This class is open to all. There are no prerequisites.

We offer classes both in Seattle at East West Bookshop and in Bothell at the Ananda Meditation Temple. 

How to Meditate:

Inner Peace through Relaxation and Concentration
3-week series

Meditation can transform your life. Learn to relax your body, quiet your mind, awaken intuition and experience greater joy and creativity in daily life. This 3-session course includes in-class practice, tips on establishing your practice at home, online guided meditations, written instructions, unlimited (no-charge) re-take policy, and ongoing support in-person or online.

In this class you will learn:

  • How to release tension and relax the body
  • How to quiet and concentrate the mind.
  • How to experience calmness, inner peace, self-acceptance, unselfish love and inner joy.
  • How to be enthusiastic, open and positive towards meditation and self-transformation
Techniques taught in this class include:
  • Simple stretches & exercises
  • Breath control exercises
  • Watching the breath
  • Affirmations
  • Chanting
  • Creative visualization

Meditation has been scientifically proven to be beneficial to the health of body, mind and spirit. Meditation is for everyone and requires no outward affiliation or belief system.

BONUS: Between 6:45 and 7:15 p.m. your meditation teacher will be on hand to meet with you, to answer questions and discuss your progress and your observations. Our teachers know “how to listen!”

The book How to Meditate by Jyotish Novak is the text for the 3-class series. If you do not already own the book, we will have a copy ready for you on the first night of class. You may add it to your shopping cart now or pay for it at the first class.

This class covers the same material as the How to Meditate Series (above), but may be more convenient for those who cannot take an evening class. The workshop lasts 2.5 hours and takes place on Saturdays.

Deepen Your Meditation

This class is designed for those who have completed the Learn to Meditate class (3-part series or Saturday workshop).  We will review our meditation practices together and explore how meditation can transform your life and be an integral part of your daily life. Topics will vary according to students’ interest but may include how to use chanting or mantra, what is the 8-Fold Path described by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras, reincarnation, the importance of devotion, what is raja yoga and kriya yoga and more information about Ananda.  Prerequisite: Learn to Meditate.  The Deepen Your Meditation class will generally follow on the Monday or Tuesday following the Learn to Meditate 3-class series.

Guided Meditation Practice

in Bothell, Ananda Meditation Temple, Wednesdays, 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Designed for graduates of How to Meditate classes but open to all, this weekly session includes a complete but guided practice of meditation including simple stretches, chanting, breath control techniques and silent meditation. Each session will have a discussion period and a theme based on positive attitude or meditation techniques. No need to register – just come meditate! Present by Chandi Holliman or one of our staff teachers. (Come for a yoga class right beforehand–it starts at 6 p.m!)
