Ananda Community in Lynnwood invites you to take a day of retreat for your Self! Treat your Self to yoga, meditation, chanting, vegetarian meals, inspirational and creative workshops and friends of like mind. This easy-to-please retreat requires no travel, no long drive, no ferry or bridges and no airline flights and security checks. Treat the Self to a day of inner joy.

Ananda Community is one of nine intentional communities around the world whose residents practice and share yoga and meditation in the kriya yoga tradition of Paramhansa Yogananda. All are welcome.

Yogasana Intensive #2: Yoga For a Healthy Back @ Ananda Meditation Temple

The Yogasana Intensives are a series of 9 workshops designed to explore the physical, astral, and causal aspects of yoga postures. Designed for all levels and for students considering Yoga Teacher Training, each workshop picks up the thread of Hatha Yoga from a specific topic and typically consists of:

  • A brief discussion of the topic
  • An asana and pranayama routine, designed specifically to explore the topic with our bodies
  • A meditation session

At the end of each workshop, we will provide a suggested Yoga routine which you can practice at home to continue your exploration.

It is said that there are only two kinds of people: those that have had back pain, and those that will have back pain. The intent of this workshop is to understand the common causes of back pain, and explore preventative yoga routines that keep back pain away.
We will explore the importance of core muscles and deep spinal muscles in keeping the back healthy. Through several yoga postures, we will also highlight the relationship between the pelvis and low back. Learn how simple hip-opening routines can be remarkably efficient in keeping the back healthy.

All Saints Kirtan @ Ananda Community

We celebrate All Saints Day with a devotional Kirtan.

Open your heart and still your mind to the Divine presence through devotional chanting! We use Indian harmoniums, guitars, drums, kirtals (bells), gong, and sometimes even harp! Chants by Paramhansa Yogananda, Swami Kriyananda, and mantras from India, celebrating the devotion of the saints. We follow the chanting by going inwards and meditation for about 45 minutes.

Saturdays once a month October 4 (Saint Francis Kirtan), November 1 (All Saints Kirtan), November 29 (Gratitude Kirtan)

 

 

 

Group Meditation @ Ananda Meditation Temple

Both new and experienced meditators benefit from meditating with a group. Ananda offers many opportunities to meditate with others and experience the joy and peace that meditation inspires.

Saturday night meditation begins with a short period of chanting, followed by silent meditation until a chanting break at 8 pm. Silent meditation continues then until shortly before 9 pm, when the meditation closes with healing prayers. You are welcome to join us for all or part of this time. Please enter and exit the sanctuary quietly, preferably during chanting periods.

The Saturday night meditation begins with one hour of chanting (kirtan) one Saturday night each month. See the Event Calendar for Kirtan dates.

Purification Ceremony & Meditation @ Ananda Meditation Temple in Bothell

Purification Ceremony, 9 – 9:15 am

The Purification Ceremony is an opportunity for you to individually pray for purification and invoke God’s grace and power through the masters.  Instructions are available in the foyer or in the sanctuary.

Silent Meditation, 9:15 – 9:45 am

The silent meditation period begins with a chant at 9:15 (chant books with words are available). Just before the close of meditation at 9:45, the minister will lead us in offering healing prayers.

Sunday Service in Bothell @ Ananda Temple

Sundays at Ananda Meditation Temple are the highlight of the week and are an excellent occasion for your first visit. Sunday Service is drawn from the ancient meditation tradition of the East and the mystical traditions of Christ, with scriptural readings from both the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita. Service includes music, chanting, a brief period of meditation, an inspirational talk, and a beautiful ceremony called A Festival of Light.

Deepen Your Meditation

In Seattle & Bothell, 7:30 – 9 pm

This class is designed for those who have completed the Learn to Meditate class (3-part series or Saturday workshop).  We will review our meditation practices together and explore how meditation can transform your life and be an integral part of your spiritual path. Topics will vary according to students’ interest but may include how to use chanting or mantra, what is the 8-Fold Path described by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras, reincarnation, the importance of devotion, what is raja yoga and kriya yoga and more information about Ananda.  Prerequisite: Learn to Meditate.  The Deepen Your Meditation class will generally follow on the Monday or Tuesday following the Learn to Meditate 3-class series.

Learn meditation, yoga, the universal philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali’s Eight-Fold Path (Ashtanga Yoga). This course features the modern, definitive text written by Swami Kriyananda, The Art and Science of Raja Yoga.  There are no pre-requisites for this course.
