Sunday Service, 10 a.m. in Bothell

Sundays at Ananda Meditation Temple are the highlight of the week and are an excellent occasion for your first visit. Sunday Service is drawn from the ancient meditation tradition of the East and the mystical traditions of Christ, with scriptural readings from both the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita. Service includes music, chanting, a brief period of meditation, inspirational talk, and a beautiful ceremony called A Festival of Light.

Paramhansa Yogananda, author of  Autobiography of a Yogi and guru-preceptor for the work of Ananda, encouraged respect for all religions and all forms of sincere worship, service, and meditation. His own line of guru-preceptors include Jesus Christ, Babaji (formerly Krishna), Lahiri Mahasaya, and Swami Sri Yukteswar. Therefore we show particular respect and reverence to Yogananda and these illumined souls who sent him to the West. But our devotion is essentially and always, as he taught us, to God alone, and to the manifest divinity in those whom God sends to earth in human form to teach and uplift others.

At Ananda, each person who comes and participates does so with his or her own, inner realization and recognition. No one form of reverence, belief, or personal relationship to God or the gurus is expected or assumed. All are welcome to the weekly services and meditations. The only suggestion we make is to come with an open heart and an open mind.

Chakras: Doorways to Your Karmic Matrix @ Ananda Meditation Temple
Oct 5 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Taught by Hriman McGilloway

Taught by Hriman McGilloway

3 Wednesdays: Oct 5, 12, & 19 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. $50

Optional: Yoga postures for each chakra: $10, October 26**

**only for those who take the first three weeks. Must be an experienced and qualified hatha yoga student.

The life we call ours is lived from inside: our reactions, perceptions, emotions, desires, impulses and will power. All that we experience as “I” spring from the life matrix centered in our central, astral nervous system which interacts with the physical body and senses through the channels, or doorways, known as the chakras.

Just as medicine works silently and unobtrusively in our body, so this internal “programming” functions largely without our conscious control and awareness. We can’t just reach in and reprogram the complex software we’ve developed over countless past lives and the current life.

This matrix is not a “thing,” it consists of energy patterns guided by a silent intelligence. It is with energy and intelligence that we can begin to change these patterns. But first we must become aware of them and then we can learn the specific energy techniques that can release the more problematical ones into a higher octave of (and more happiness inducing) functionality.

This class series will alternate analysis with specific techniques. It is designed for experienced meditators but open to all.

Topics and techniques to be explored include:

  • Psychological attributes, both positive & negative, of each of the 7 chakras
  • Triad healing relationship between specific chakras
  • How to “open” each chakra using:
  • Exercises
  • Toning
  • Visualizations of colors, sounds, or shapes
  • Where to direct the energy of each chakra
  • Toning at the chakras to energize them
  • Adding chakra meditation to your daily routine
  • Chakras and Kriya Yoga
  • Lower 3 chakras vs. Upper 3 chakras!
  • Planetary (astrological) relationship to each chakra
  • Sun sign (astrological) relationship to each chakra

Nayaswami Hriman McGilloway has been the primary teacher of chakra meditation techniques for over twenty years at Ananda in Seattle.
