This class is designed for those who have completed the Learn to Meditate class (3-part series or Saturday workshop).  We will review our meditation practices together and explore how meditation can transform your life and be an integral part of your spiritual path. Topics will vary according to students’ interest but may include how to use chanting or mantra, what is the 8-Fold Path described by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras, reincarnation, the importance of devotion, what is raja yoga and kriya yoga and more information about Ananda.

Prerequisite: Learn to Meditate.  The Deepen Your Meditation class will generally follow on the Monday or Wednesday following the Learn to Meditate 3-class series.

Group Meditation @ Ananda Meditation Temple

Both new and experienced meditators benefit from meditating with a group. Ananda offers many opportunities to meditate with others and experience the joy and peace that meditation inspires.

Saturday night meditation begins with a short period of chanting, followed by silent meditation until a chanting break at 8 pm. Silent meditation continues then until shortly before 9 pm, when the meditation closes with healing prayers. You are welcome to join us for all or part of this time. Please enter and exit the sanctuary quietly, preferably during chanting periods.

On the 4th Saturday of the month meditation begins with one hour of chanting (kirtan) followed by 45 minutes of meditation.

The Purification Ceremony is an opportunity for you to individually pray for purification and invoke God’s grace and power through the masters.  Instructions are available in the foyer or in the sanctuary.

Silent Meditation, 9:15 – 9:45 am

The silent meditation period begins with a chant at 9:15 (chant books with words are available). Just before the close of meditation at 9:45, the minister will lead us in offering healing prayers.
