  • How to concentrate the mind.
  • How to use imagery, affirmation, and chanting to be calm and peaceful.

This class covers the same material as the Learn to Meditate Series (above), but may be more convenient for those who cannot take an evening class. The workshop lasts 2.5 hours.

Deepen Your Meditation

In Seattle & Bothell, 7:30 – 9 pm

This class is designed for those who have completed the Learn to Meditate class (3-part series or Saturday workshop).  We will review our meditation practices together and explore how meditation can transform your life and be an integral part of your spiritual path. Topics will vary according to students’ interest but may include how to use chanting or mantra, what is the 8-Fold Path described by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras, reincarnation, the importance of devotion, what is raja yoga and kriya yoga and more information about Ananda.  Prerequisite: Learn to Meditate.  The Deepen Your Meditation class will generally follow on the Monday or Tuesday following the Learn to Meditate 3-class series.

Register for Deepen Your Meditation at the same time you register for Learn to Meditate (above) for only $5!

Note: There is no Deepen Class in January. Please register for the one in February.

Ananda’s most popular and comprehensive course!

Learn meditation, yoga, the universal philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali’s Eight-Fold Path (Ashtanga Yoga). This course features the modern, definitive text written by Swami Kriyananda, The Art and Science of Raja Yoga.  There are no pre-requisites for this course.

This course is offered in two places.

Ananda Temple in Bothell with Murali (Hatha Segment) and Hriman (Raja Segment): September 4 through November 20, 12 Thursdays, 6 to 9:15pm

Raja Yoga segment (7:30 – 9:15 pm) includes: meditation practices using breath, mantra, pranayama, affirmation, chanting, visualization, and chakra exercises; philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali’s 8-Fold Path of Ashtanga Yoga; and the philosophy of Karma, Kundalini, the Guru, astral and causal planes, reincarnation, and much more. The Raja segment is taught by Nayaswami Hriman McGilloway in Bothell and Nayaswami Susan McGinnis in Seattle.

Hatha Yoga segment (6 – 7:15 pm) includes: yoga postures (asanas), pranayama, affirmations, healing, diet, and yoga routines. The Hatha Yoga segment is taught by Michelle Marshall in Seattle & Murali Venkatrao in Bothell.

Saturday workshop: Saturday April 4, 2015 held at Ananda Community in Lynnwood:

Raja segment: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Hatha segment, 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Students from each of the two locations (Bothell & Seattle) come together on this Saturday. Lunch provided by Ananda Community with an optional Community tour following.

Students will have access to archival re-mastered recordings by Swami Kriyananda on the topics of the Raja textbook.
