Fullness Meditation Class Series @ Ananda Meditation Temple
Mar 29 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Meditation is natural and deeply rewarding. It offers a direct and intuitive experience of states of consciousness that are peace-full, health-full, mind-full and soul-full.

Benefits:
The benefits of meditation have been amply documented by medical testing. (See for yourself)

General benefits can be classified as:

  • Physical: improves respiration, heart, circulation, vitality and well-being;
  • Mental: improves mindfulness, memory, clarity and concentration;
  • Emotional: greater calmness, insight, forgiveness, love, acceptance and joy;
  • Spiritual awakening: to the Life that dwells in you and in all life.

You do not need any particular belief system or affiliation to benefit from the techniques taught at Ananda. You can use the science of meditation to focus on just one or all of meditation’s benefits.

Beginning Classes:

Each month, at the Ananda Center in Bothell, AND, at the East West Bookshop in Seattle, we offer to you four classes to choose from. You can take any one of them or all of them, to suit your interests. Each class offers a particular emphasis and specific techniques. Intuition-Building Toolkit – Habit vs. Common Sense @ Ananda Meditation Temple
Mar 29 @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

IMG_494-1024x768Paramhansa Yogananda writes, ‘Intuition is developed by:
• Exercising common sense;
• Daily introspection and analysis;
• Depth of thought and concentrated activity;
• Calmness, and:
• Holding onto the calm aftereffects of meditation.’

So here is our prescription for success in the realm of intuition. In this hour-long class, we will be practicing the above, and adventuring in, that, when you are following through on your common sense, your flickers of how things are or ought to be, that gentle touch from the Divine, that it will propel you to, what Swami Kriyananda says about intuition:

Intuition is the innate ability in everyone to perceive truth directly – not by reason, logic, or analysis, but by a simple knowing from within. That is the very meaning of the word ‘intuition’:: to know, or understand from within – from one’s own self, and from the heart of whatever one is trying to understand. Intuition is the inner ability to see behind the outer forms of things to their inner essence.

Raja and Hatha Yoga Intensive @ Ananda Meditation Temple
Mar 30 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

 Ananda’s most popular and comprehensive course!

“Taking Raja was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

It was life changing!  Just do it.”

Raja_2015At the Raja Yoga Intensive, you’ll learn how to meditate, and how to practice the yoga postures in the way they were originally intended: as a priceless aid to inner unfoldment. You’ll thrill to discover how the inspired wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita integrates with the a deeper understanding of the Judao-Christian heritage, and how the science of yoga comes to us through the timeless psycho-spiritual insights of  the now famous Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (wherein is found the Eight-Fold Path known as Ashtanga Yoga).

The practical wisdom of Raja Yoga includes working with the subconscious mind to change habits and using breath work for release of tension and emotional blocks. The secrets of success — personal magnetism, right attitude, creativity, and energy — form an integral part of the yoga science. This course features the modern, now “classic” textbook by Swami Kriyananda, The Art and Science of Raja Yoga.  There are no prerequisites. The course is open to all, whether new to these practices and concepts or wanting to deepen your practice and understanding, and to be with others who share your interest.

Ananda Yoga with Himilayan Sound Therapy @ Ananda Yoga Hall
Mar 30 @ 7:00 pm – 8:15 pm

Ananda Yoga offers classic asanas with affirmations and energizing pranayam movements that will bestow physical strength and relaxation, inspiration and inner peace, and clarity of mind. Our meditative and individualistic style makes Ananda Yoga suitable for both beginning and intermediate levels of practice.

In this class, Ananda Yoga is combined with  Tibetan singing bowls. Dating back over 2,500 years, these bowls were brought from India to Tibet along with the teachings of the Buddha. Himalayan singing bowls produce sounds which induce a state of relaxation, readying the mind for meditation. They are often handmade and consist of a metal alloy of copper, tin, iron, lead, zinc, gold, silver and mercury which produce complex harmonic overtones when struck or rubbed with a mallet.

Used by a skilled practitioner, such as instructor Gabriela Selden, the singing bowls promote:

•deep relaxation

•meditation

•stress reduction

•sound healing therapy on the body

•chakra balancing

•aura cleansing

Gaby has completed Level II Himalayan Sound Therapy training with Suren Shrestha, a leading practitioner of the ancient art of vibrational healing using Himalayan singing bowls infused with healing intention. Suren is originally from Khandabari, Nepal.

Sunday Service, 10 a.m. in Bothell

Sundays at Ananda Meditation Temple are the highlight of the week and are an excellent occasion for your first visit. Sunday Service is drawn from the ancient meditation tradition of the East and the mystical traditions of Christ, with scriptural readings from both the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita. Service includes music, chanting, a brief period of meditation, inspirational talk, and a beautiful ceremony called A Festival of Light.

Paramhansa Yogananda, author of  Autobiography of a Yogi and guru-preceptor for the work of Ananda, encouraged respect for all religions and all forms of sincere worship, service, and meditation. His own line of guru-preceptors include Jesus Christ, Babaji (formerly Krishna), Lahiri Mahasaya, and Swami Sri Yukteswar. Therefore we show particular respect and reverence to Yogananda and these illumined souls who sent him to the West. But our devotion is essentially and always, as he taught us, to God alone, and to the manifest divinity in those whom God sends to earth in human form to teach and uplift others.

At Ananda, each person who comes and participates does so with his or her own, inner realization and recognition. No one form of reverence, belief, or personal relationship to God or the gurus is expected or assumed. All are welcome to the weekly services and meditations. The only suggestion we make is to come with an open heart and an open mind.
