Abiding in God

The metaphor of the vine and the branches is perfect for the exuberant growth of summer plants, flowers, and trees! When the “sun is shining” it is easy to fill we are part of all life. And, that indeed, is the message of the ages from saints and sages.

We know not from whence we came when we were born; nor where we go when deep in sleep; nor to where we depart when the “lights go out” at the end of life.

Be not so busy and preoccupied with the details of the day that we forget that we are a part of the great symphony of life. Paramhansa Yogananda counselled us to “Never miss our daily appointment with God, without whom not a single breath can be taken!”

Let us be mindful and faith-filled “branch managers” of our part of the Divine Vine!
